It was one of those nights of 2006, gloomy and prolonged
Awaiting my flight to US, encircled by family and friends
My mind was in a pensive state, thinking where my future belonged
Sans my dearest well wishers, on whom my life did depend
Wondered if life without known faces, was ever gleeful
And if there's any triumph, in this new country swamped with change
But didnt have to wait long for answers, as God answered the needful
through illustrations of daily life, both beautiful and strange.
4 years glided by, basking in the company of roomies n friends
But every year which elapsed, bestowed infinite quantums of wisdom
Learnt the way how life was modeled, and relationships did blend,
Thru pleasure and laughter, with display of tears in random
With roomies, everyday has its share of cheer,and not just gloom
Bestowed with a bonus family, solitary life turns neat and shiny
Life becomes a pupil, and exposure - our guide, to help us groom
but imparts a potpourri of emotions, making us wise and spiny
Citing friends... the good life is, not just their association
but having them by your side, through loops and swings
My life in California, has been a lasting growth on their foundation
Their aid negating all the abrupt troubles, what fate could bring.
As the years pass, makes me wonder what i gained, comin to the States
My thoughts have altered, n my decisions aint no longer confused
My view of the world has changed, and there's a surge of internal traits
But one quality in me has grown, strongly and never diffused
Learnt to share the feeling of love, to mankind around me
Lost some friends when i left india, but found umpteen more of gold
Finally, its all abt who is with u, when life has lost its glee
Then you realise, that you hv so many, more than what ur small heart cud hold
